Target Customers

Universal Studios Florida seeks to increase park attendance, particularly during off-peak seasons, by launching a promotional package for Florida residents aged 15 to 44. This promotion involves offering a 5-day park pass for three days, with a 2-park, 3-day ticket, and the opportunity for customers to enter a draw for additional prizes.

The target customer pool for this promotion is Florida residents aged 15 to 44 interested in visiting Universal Studios Florida. Universal Studios Florida can utilize various marketing channels such as social media, email campaigns, and targeted advertisements to reach this target audience.

Categorizing the target customer pool can be done through demographic and psychographic segmentation, such as age, income, education, and interests. This information can be used to tailor marketing efforts to the specific needs and preferences of the target audience, increasing the effectiveness of the promotional campaign.

Selected Sampling

The proportion of female and male customers can be determined by taking the ratio of female and male customers to the total number of customers in Florida. The proportion of female or male customers can be calculated as follows:

P(woman) = 3,795,672 / 7,714,920 = 0.4939

P(man) = 3,919,248 / 7,714,920 = 0.508008897

This probability can then be used to make inferences about the customer population’s characteristics and guide marketing strategies.

Therefore, if a potential customer is randomly selected, the probability that the person is a woman is approximately 0.4939 or 49.39%. Also, the probability that the person is a man is approximately 0.5080 or 50.80%

Several factors could enter the apparent discrepancy between probabilities, including population demographics, cultural influences, marketing strategies, and purchasing behavior. When developing marketing strategies and analyzing customer data, it is essential to consider these factors.

Lottery Analysis

For each age group, the chances of winning would be calculated as the probability of being a man in that group (P(Man by Group)) divided by the overall probability of being a man (P(Man)).

For example, the chances of a man between the ages of 15–17 winning the promotion would be:

· P(Win | 15–17, Male) = P(Man by Group | 15–17) / P(Man) = 0.099847981 / 0.508008897 = 0.196461672

Similarly, for other age groups:

· P(Win | 18–19, Male) = 0.07 / 0.508008897 = 0.137787072

· P(Win | 20–24, Male) = 0.163846483 / 0.508008897 = 0.322155275

· P(Win | 25–29, Male) = 0.165992303 / 0.508008897 = 0.325702664

· P(Win | 30–34, Male) = 0.17021199 / 0.508008897 = 0.333593699

· P(Win | 35–39, Male) = 0.171155283 / 0.508008897 = 0.336604926

· P(Win | 40–44, Male) = 0.163485444 / 0.508008897 = 0.321461878

Now we can see the Female scenario P(Woman | age group) = P(Woman by group) * P(Woman) / P(Woman by group)

Here’s the calculation for each age group:

· P(Woman | 15–17) = 0.0993579 * 0.491991103 / 0.0993579 = 0.491991103

· P(Woman | 18–19) = 0.07 * 0.491991103 / 0.07 = 0.491991103

· P(Woman | 20–24) = 0.162504294 * 0.491991103 / 0.162504294 = 0.491991103

· P(Woman | 25–29) = 0.16555988 * 0.491991103 / 0.16555988 = 0.491991103

· P(Woman | 30–34) = 0.17131749 * 0.491991103 / 0.17131749 = 0.491991103

· P(Woman | 35–39) = 0.171374397 * 0.491991103 / 0.171374397 = 0.491991103

· P(Woman | 40–44) = 0.164260769 * 0.491991103 / 0.164260769 = 0.491991103

In conclusion, the results indicate that the 35–39-year-old male demographic has the highest probability of winning the promotion, with a 33.66% chance. The results also show that the probability of winning the promotion for both genders is equivalent, with a 49.19% chance for females. These results highlight the importance of targeting specific age demographics in promotional campaigns to maximize their effectiveness. Additionally, the findings underscore the need to consider gender demographics in promotions, as both genders present equal chances of winning. These results contribute to our understanding of the influence of demographic factors on the success of promotional campaigns.

Bayesian Analysis

Based on the Bayesian analysis of the data, determine some marketing conclusions:

Age Demographics: we can see that the largest group in Florida is in the 20–24 age range, followed by the 25–29 age range. This information can help target marketing efforts.

Gender Demographics: The data also shows that the number of males and females in Florida is roughly equal. This information can be used to target marketing efforts to either gender or to both genders.

Probability of Gender: we can use the probability of being male or female in each age group to target marketing efforts. For example, we can see that the probability of being male is higher in the 15–17 age group compared to the 40–44 age group.

Winning a Promotion: Based on the probabilities of being male or female in each age group, we can estimate the chances of winning the promotion. For example, the probability of winning the promotion as a male in the 15–17 age group is slightly higher than that of a female in the same age group.

These conclusions can help the marketing department make informed decisions about what will be the best marketing efforts in Florida.
